FreePi released version v0.4.6, adding free web search and documentation lookup tools that count toward your daily allowance. According to the FreePi Changelog, FreePi is an ad-supported terminal coding agent built on Mario Zechner's Pi agent harness. You run npx free-pi-cli, sign in with GitHub using a device code, and code against a daily free allowance using the default DeepSeek V4 Flash model.

As checked on October 20, 2026, the tool is funded by terminal ads and training on your sessions, with server-set daily allowances that may be affected by account age. Optional credit packs are available via Stripe Checkout where $5 buys $4.00 of usage and $10 buys $8.00. The CLI itself is open source under the MIT license. You can read more about it on our FreePi tool page and the FreePi Pricing page.

Beyond FreePi, I audited pricing changes for major assistants as of October 15, 2026:

I will continue keeping these rubrics updated as providers adjust their offerings.
