What happens when your AI assistant never runs out of ideas—but you start running out of time?

Aladdin asked for a simple website. His AI Genie had bigger plans. Somewhere between endless suggestions, unfinished projects, and a cup of tea, they discovered a lesson neither expected.

The old genie granted three wishes. The new one suggests three hundred projects before lunch.

“Genie, help me build a simple website.”

By lunchtime, Aladdin had three websites, five project ideas, two dashboards, and a folder named final-final-v3.

“Master, we've built a digital ecosystem!”

Later, Aladdin received a nice comment on his article.

“Your profoundly insightful contribution has beautifully illuminated the deeper dimensions of this meaningful conversation…”

“I asked you to say thank you, not deliver a Nobel Prize speech.”

“Understood. Would you like three professionally optimized alternatives?”

“Thanks for reading! I appreciate your thoughts.”

Sometimes, the hardest thing to teach AI is when to stop helping.

The old genie had a limit: three wishes.

The new one never seems to run out of suggestions.

One idea becomes a project. A project becomes a platform. A platform needs a dashboard.

And somehow, the dashboard needs its own dashboard.

“Genie, how many projects have we started?”

“Would you like me to create a progress tracker?”

Starting something with AI is becoming easier than finishing it.

And possibility is not the same as progress.

AI can explain, write, organize, and help build amazing things.

But it can also misunderstand requests, make confident mistakes, and recommend solutions nobody needs.

That's why Aladdin must remain in charge.

A good AI assistant shouldn't agree with everything.

“That's interesting, but perhaps we should finish the first project.”

One afternoon, Aladdin finally closed his laptop and made himself some tea.

“Master, would you like me to optimize your tea-drinking experience?”

“Understood, Master. Shall I save the idea for later?”

Some things really don't need automation.

AI makes creating easier. But it doesn't automatically make our decisions better.

We still need judgement, patience, and the discipline to finish useful work.

The best AI Genie isn't the one that always says yes.

It's the one that knows when to help—and when to stop.

And the wisest Aladdin isn't the one who makes the most wishes.

He's the one who knows which wishes are worth making real.

Inspired by everyday conversations with AI, unfinished projects, and the occasional cup of tea.
