Trump launches "Super Intelligence Force" that has nothing to do with actual superintelligence

President Donald Trump has announced the creation of a "Super Intelligence Force" (SIF). "Superintelligence" is Trump's term for artificial intelligence. In AI research, superintelligence, or Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) , has been an established concept for decades, referring to self-improving systems that vastly surpass human intelligence. That's not the AI we have today, but superintelligence will probably come up with an even better name for itself once it arrives.
The unit will coordinate outreach to consumers, interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure operators, and AI companies. Intelligence director Jay Clayton, FTC chair Andrew Ferguson, undersecretary for research Emil Michael, CTO Scott Kupor, and other government officials will lead the SIF. It reports directly to the president and chief of staff Susie Wiles.
The announcement follows a recent tech CEO gathering at the White House where executives signed a "morally binding" contract for independent third-party auditors to verify that AI models are "operating as intended." Ad Ad
