Gemini is now available on Android Auto and cars with Google built-in, offering a hands-free way to manage tasks while driving. You can now enable Personal Intelligence to let Gemini pull information from your emails, photos, and calendar to provide tailored answers to complex questions. To get started, check your Gemini settings to opt in and connect your preferred apps.

Gemini is now available on Android Auto to help you while you drive. It can look through your emails, photos, and maps to answer questions or find directions without you needing to touch your phone. You can just talk to it naturally to get things done, like finding your flight gate or a restaurant you’ll like. You’re in total control of your privacy, so you can choose exactly what information Gemini can access.

An assistant is even more helpful when it knows the world and knows you. That’s why we’re rolling out Personal Intelligence with Gemini starting today, 1 to give you uniquely tailored answers and make Gemini even more valuable on the road.

With your permission, Personal Intelligence securely connects information from the Google apps you already use — Workspace (including Gmail and Google Calendar), Google Photos, Google Maps, YouTube, and Search.

Personal Intelligence has two core strengths: retrieving specific details from, say, an email, photo or a place you saved in Google Maps to answer your question and reasoning across complex sources. That’s especially helpful when your hands are on the wheel. Personal Intelligence does the heavy lifting so you can speak naturally, without having to explain context or dig for information. Here are a few examples.

We built Personal Intelligence with privacy at the center. Your apps aren’t connected until you choose to turn it on, and you can turn it off anytime in your Gemini settings. And cars with Google built-in only share personal responses when you’re in the car with your phone connected. If you don’t use Personal Intelligence, everything in the car still works: You can use navigation, listen to music, make calls, and ask questions, but the answers won't be tailored to you.

Personal Intelligence is rolling out starting today 1 on Android Auto and in the coming months on cars with Google built-in. If you've already enabled it in the Gemini app, it comes with you into the car. If you haven't, you can set your preferences anytime in your Gemini settings.
