What if your terminal remembered everything you deleted?
I built Ghost Shell, an AI-powered haunted terminal that brings the spirit of Halloween and D铆a de los Muertos into everyday development.
Powered by Google's open-weight Gemma model running locally through Ollama, Ghost Shell reacts to terminal commands with short, eerie messages.
The idea was simple: even deleted files deserve a story.

Ghost Shell uses an entirely local AI architecture.
The shell hook captures executed commands and their exit codes. Python communicates with the local Ollama instance to generate contextual responses.
Everything runs locally without requiring an external AI API.
Open innovation made Ghost Shell possible.
Using an open-weight model through Ollama gave me:
This project demonstrates that creative AI experiences don't need expensive APIs or centralized infrastructure.
The most interesting part of this project is the digital graveyard.
Imagine deleting an old project branch and seeing your terminal respond with an epitaph.
A forgotten file becomes a memory. A deleted branch gets a final story.
Ghost Shell turns an ordinary development workflow into something a little more mysterious.
Because in this terminal, nothing is truly forgotten.
