At the same time, there’s a tech talent shortage that has left them in a bind. Many face flat or shrinking budgets, while hiring costs continue to rise.
When leveraged well, AI can be the answer to both the critical skills deficit and tight budgets for talent. Using a unified, AI-driven platform can help IT teams manage more endpoints, resolve tickets faster, and get more from existing headcount.
Many IT environments are fragmented across countless vendors, but having such a tool sprawl can quickly drag down the bottom line. Not only do technicians lose time switching between monitoring, ticketing and documentation tools, but organizations also end up investing far more across multiple vendors for far less return. In fact, 78% of IT teams operate with hybrid or primarily fragmented technology architectures, according to an independent Omdia study.
A unified IT ecosystem offers an efficient alternative as organizations look to scale business goals in markets with thin margins and draw more value out of existing partners. In that same Omdia study, 85% of channel partners said they’re focusing their investments on a smaller number of strategic vendors.
IT budgets haven’t kept pace with the soaring pressure tech teams face, from multiplying endpoints to increasing ticket volumes. Switching to an all-encompassing service delivery platform can help them close the gap.
The payoff can be significant. According to the Omdia study, a 10-technician MSP running Kaseya’s unified solution — Datto Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM), Autotask PSA and IT Glue — saves about $312,000 a year, the equivalent of 3.4 full-time technicians.
Thanks to more automated workflows, productivity across existing teams saw a significant boost too. MSPs in the study reported managing 27% more endpoints and handling 23% more tickets per technician. One MSP cut resolution time from under eight hours to about three to 3.5 hours, crediting automation and workflows for 30% to 40% of that improvement. IT teams, meanwhile, redirected about 19% of their budgets from administrative work to strategic priorities, such as cybersecurity.
Kaseya’s Datto RMM is tailor-made to help IT teams transition to more intelligent and connected endpoint management, without adding to the complexity.
For example, techs can easily spend hours digging for critical tasks and issues that need attention across disparate tools. Datto RMM’s AI Smart Insights lets technicians ask questions in plain language and get answers from live device data, including alerts, patches and performance, rather than hunting across dashboards. IT teams can then pick from hundreds of prebuilt scripts and automations to resolve recurring issues, eliminating the need to build a new solution from scratch.
Similarly, IT workers no longer need to hop between separate monitoring and ticketing tools. Instead, Datto RMM steps in as an automated first responder. Every time a device crosses a predefined threshold, whether that’s a critical CPU spike or low disk space, Datto RMM turns it into an actionable service ticket that can be tracked and acted on. Since technicians don’t have to review alerts and log issues themselves, it significantly cuts turnaround times.
Maintaining endpoint policies across diverse hardware and remote workforces can also bog down IT teams, taking them away from critical tasks. With Datto RMM, policies follow the device, so new and changed devices automatically pick up the right monitoring and automation. It also includes native Microsoft 365 and Intune management, meaning fewer switches between consoles for admins.
The benefits extend beyond RMM. Native Autotask PSA and IT Glue integrations help IT teams and MSPs monitor, ticket, and document in one connected workflow, meaning teams can move from identifying an issue to resolving it with fewer handoffs. Such a connected stack allows businesses to maximize returns while keeping budgets under control.
The savings from an AI-driven tech stack show that adding headcount isn’t the only way to keep pace with rising workloads. Before hiring, IT leaders should ensure their existing teams aren’t being held back by fragmented systems. A connected, unified platform can help them get more from their workforce and close the gap between growing demands and limited resources.
