All outputs are real tool calls to the Equibles MCP server from 21 October 2026, trimmed.
Executives and directors report their trades on SEC Form 4 within two business days. Most of those rows aren't decisions: stock awards, option exercises, shares withheld for tax. The rows worth reading are open-market purchases, where an insider spends their own money at the market price, and they're a small minority.
Here's how I get an AI agent to find them, using one real case from this autumn.
In Claude, open Customize → Connectors → Discover, search for Equibles, click Connect to Claude and Authorize, then switch it on in a chat from + → Connectors. In ChatGPT: Plugins, search Equibles, Install plugin. In Claude Code, claude mcp add --transport http equibles https://mcp.equibles.com/mcp and then /mcp to sign in. The free plan covers 100 requests a day; other clients are in the setup docs.
One insider buying can mean anything. Several insiders buying in the same few weeks is the pattern people actually look for. The prompt: "Using Equibles, which stocks over $2B in market cap had cluster insider buying in the last 90 days?"
The agent calls GetInsiderSentimentScores with clusterBuysOnly=true and minMarketCap=2000000000. It returns 35 stocks. One of them, Dick's Sporting Goods (DKS):
Insider sentiment score: DKS, trailing 90 days - Score: 94, rank 38 of 2091 scored stocks - Net distinct buyers: +7 (7 buyers / 0 sellers) - Net shares bought: 0.05 % of shares outstanding - Net buy value: $5,588,664 - Cluster buy: yes (3+ distinct insiders buying) Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode Two details make this score worth more than a raw count. It only uses open-market purchases and sales by officers and directors, so a holder that's only a 10% owner doesn't move it. And trades under a pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 plan are left out, because those were scheduled in advance.
"Show me the DKS insider transactions since 20 July." GetInsiderTransactions returns 11 rows:
Purchases mean more with context, and the context is one more call away. "Show DKS daily closes from 20 August, and when was its last earnings call?"
That's the whole observation: seven insiders bought in the five weeks after a 31% one-day drop, with their own money and without a plan. Whether that says anything about the next five weeks is a different question, and not one the filings answer.
Using Equibles: 1. Find stocks over $2B with cluster insider buying in the last 90 days. 2.
For the top 3, list each Form 4 row with type, role, price, value and the 10b5-1 flag. Count only Type "Buy" as purchases; treat Tax Payment, Award and Exercise as compensation mechanics. 3.
Add the stock's closes around the first purchase and its latest earnings call date. Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode What insider data can't tell you Intent. A purchase can follow a drop, a blackout window opening, or a board's expectation that directors own shares.
Sales, fairly. Insiders sell for taxes, diversification and houses; a sale alone says little, which is why I start from buying. Outcomes.
Past cluster buys don't promise anything about the next quarter. The ranked list is also on the insider sentiment page, and each stock has its own filings page, like DKS insider trading.
