When you first open Wabi, the most useful question is not what it can build, but what it can see. Like other chat-based assistants, Wabi becomes more helpful when it can look at the things you mention, yet every connection also widens the circle of information it can reach. A careful start does not mean avoiding the app. It means choosing access on purpose, one chat at a time.

The guide from Wabi Wiki describes access as something you grant, not something taken by default. Email can be used to create starter threads and to help with briefs and triage. A calendar connection can support scheduling and shared plans. A payment method or bank account is optional and is meant only for tasks you ask for inside a chat. On Android, health data can also be optional and read-only, covering steps, sleep, heart rate, workouts, and weight. Store descriptions also mention contacts, location, and photos as possible connections. The key point for a new user is that none of these connections is required to begin: you can start with no connections and add one only when a particular thread has a clear reason for it.

Wabi's most important privacy idea, as described in the guide, is that access is scoped to each conversation. A chat should see only what you shared in that chat, rather than gaining a single key to everything at once. That design makes it easier to keep work, family planning, and personal questions apart. It also makes shared chats worth thinking about carefully: other people in a shared chat can see when personal information is requested there. If you would not say something aloud in a group, do not put it in a group thread.

According to the source guide, Wabi states that its data-security controls are independently audited under SOC 2, that data runs in the cloud, and that it is stored mostly in the United States. The official store descriptions also say Wabi checks with you before important actions that need approval, and that connections can be disconnected at any time. Launch coverage cited in the guide notes that work may be routed through models from Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI, so content you connect or discuss may be processed by those providers.

Apple's privacy labels, as reported in the guide, list identifiers for tracking, and user content, identifiers, and diagnostics linked to you. Those details are reassuring, but they do not remove the need for judgement. An audit describes controls, not a promise that nothing sensitive will ever appear in a chat you chose to share.

If you want the fuller explanation, read the detailed safety and privacy guide before you connect anything sensitive. The Wabi Wiki homepage is also a useful starting point for other beginner topics.
