Observability and information technology management software company SolarWinds Worldwide LLC today unveiled Avior, a standalone agentic artificial intelligence system built to take on first-line operations work for enterprise IT teams.

The launch goes after the reliability problem that comes with letting AI agents act on production systems. SolarWinds argues that an agent producing different outcomes from one run to the next is a liability wherever uptime and security are on the line. Most IT organizations already absorb that cost in outage time and audit exposure, the company said.

Chief Technology Officer Krishna Sai said the design grounds “probabilistic models in deterministic execution.” The models work out what needs doing. A fixed framework of predefined goals and approval controls governs how it gets done, and every workflow can be audited. Those goals draw on 25 years of SolarWinds experience with how IT environments actually behave, Sai said.

SolarWinds’ existing AI assistants, including an AI Agent that entered tech preview for SolarWinds Observability SaaS in October 2025, work inside individual products. The company describes those tools as “bounded by human attention and prompting.” Avior runs as its own application on the SolarWinds Platform and reaches third-party systems through the Model Context Protocol. Nobody has to migrate data to put it to work across self-hosted and cloud environments.

Merging related alerts into a single incident is one of the jobs Avior takes on at launch. The system can also spot configuration changes made outside normal channels and restore the last-known-good configuration on the devices that matter most.

Stale inventory is another target, with Avior retiring records for devices long gone from the network that still fire alerts. SolarWinds said more capabilities are on the way.

Autonomy in Avior is tiered by risk, so anything SolarWinds classes as potentially dangerous waits for explicit human approval. Each action runs with the permissions of the person who started it and is logged.

Rollback support is built in. Only data relevant to a request gets sent, and customer data is masked and never used to train the underlying models.

IT operations have long been measured by how quickly teams respond, according to Cullen Childress, who took over as SolarWinds’ interim chief executive when Sudhakar Ramakrishna’s tenure ended Sept. 30. Childress, who is also the company’s chief product officer, said “reaction time alone is no longer enough” as environments grow more complex.

Avior is available starting today through a guided onboarding program. SolarWinds did not disclose pricing.
