UiPath plans to charge companies for each document its new finance agents process, instead of selling them a software project. Mircea Giurcan, a senior transformation director at UiPath, set out the model on Monday. He spoke at UiPath FUSION, held at Dubai’s Museum of the Future.
The invoice processing and procurement parts of the UiPath Solution for Source-to-Pay will be available from early 2027, he said. Further finance modules, including order-to-cash, are due in mid-2027.
“Your accounts payable is not special. It shouldn’t be special. Still, an invoice is an invoice.” Mircea Giurcan, UiPath
Giurcan said UiPath’s most mature customers spend most of the effort in an automation project before anything runs. They pick a process, analyse its metrics, interview the staff who do it and build a business case. Many finance processes are the same across most customers, whatever their industry, UiPath said.
About a year ago, UiPath’s product team decided to turn standard finance work into a ready-made product. It has two sides. One guides employees as they buy goods and services, and the other handles the invoices that follow each order. Customers then pay the “price per item times items processed”, Giurcan said.
UiPath first announced agents for procurement in March, as the UiPath Solution for Purchase-to-Pay. That announcement gave neither a price nor a release date.
On the procurement side, Giurcan showed an employee who wanted to buy ten laptops for an event. An agent checked whether that person could request that equipment in that number. It also found who had to approve it and which vendor usually supplies the item.
It then flagged that the quoted price was higher than in past orders. The agent drafted an email to the distributor’s sales representative, citing the requisition number, and paused the order until a reply came. A buyer would spend about half an hour on that, Giurcan said.
On the invoice side, the agents pick up invoices however they arrive, check them and post them into the customer’s ERP system.
Giurcan added that Cartographer, the process-mapping agent UiPath launched in September, will cut the interviews needed to map a process. At the same event, chief executive Daniel Dines said people must steer AI. UiPath’s finance push follows its WorkFusion acquisition in February. Its AI-agent pivot won over investors in July.
