What AI agents actually paid for on x402: October 2026

This is the first monthly edition of a small index built from four weekly pulls of public x402 APIs, taken on Mondays 2026-10-12, 10-19, 10-26 and 11-02. A free index already exists: x402stats.io publishes raw and organic x402 volume every month under CC BY 4.0, and its organic figure is reprinted below. This edition adds three things x402stats did not publish as of 2026-11-02: the category mix of what agents call, a security and code-tool slice, and a live-7-day independence haircut.

Every number carries a source class: headline-counter (a platform's own counter), third-party-measurement, primary-pull (pulled live by us), computed (derived from our pulls) or inferred (an estimate by a stated rule). Pull times are in section 5.

† Data to 2026-10-28. On 11-02 the newest settlement in the x402-list feed was dated 2026-10-28T12:29Z, so these are not 11-02 values.

These are five separate measurements. None of them is a corrected version of another. The settled floor counts USDC through the facilitators x402-list measures. "Independent-looking" sums that floor over sellers with at least 10 buyers, no buyer above 50% of the seller's volume, and no shared payout address. "Live 7d" keeps only the sellers in that pool with a settlement in the last 7 days and a 7-day-vs-30-day trend above 0.05. One seller, dTelecom, was about half of the live figure on 10-26 and 11-02 ($36.6k; the 11-02 value is data to 10-28). The largest seller on x402-list, Laso Finance, settled $229.2k in 30 days, and one buyer accounted for 98.6% of it (data to 10-28), so the rule leaves it out of the independent-looking figure.

What the bursts add to the headline. We split the x402scan headline using x402scan's own 30-minute buckets. A burst is a single bucket many times the normal size (about $0.5k), assigned to a facilitator by x402scan's 24-hour facilitator page. By that method, bursts on the FluxA facilitator were ≈$140.7k (13%) of the 10-12 headline, ≈$321k (26%) on 10-19, ≈$751k (48%) on 10-26 and ≈$866k (57%) on 11-02, from nine bursts in the window. Four clusters on the Coinbase facilitator between 10-28 and 11-02 add ≈$76k (5%) above the baseline. The receiving sellers are not attributed, and this edition makes no finding about who sent the bursts or why. Without the FluxA bursts the headline reads ≈$916k, $903k, $799k and $649k.

Source: the Coinbase CDP Bazaar discovery API, 30-day calls per listing, sorted by a frozen keyword classifier (c1). Class: computed. Payer counts are sums over listings and are not de-duplicated. A wallet that pays ten listings counts ten times.

Cells are calls / payers. ‡ = without market.datapackvibe.com (see section 3). Without that lister, all 10-26 calls were 830,653.

The median listed price was $0.01 in every category in every week (unweighted, over listings with at least one call). Calls × listed price across all six categories comes to $33.4k–$35.2k a month (computed). The largest move was in inference-gateway, down 48% in calls from 10-12 to 11-02. Its top host, www.ax1.vc, went from 403,746 calls to 110,034.

Brackets = without market.datapackvibe.com. † = data to 2026-10-28.

The headline listing, share and payer figures are not comparable week on week. CDP dropped one lister, market.datapackvibe.com, on 10-19 (19,783 listings to 12). It re-indexed the lister on 10-26 with 39,785 listings, each with three or fewer payers. Leaving that lister out, security calls went from 20,217 (10-19) to 29,363 (10-26) and 36,117 (11-02).

The top sellers' largest single buyers held 85.3% (10-12), 77.9% (10-19), 97.6% (10-26) and 99.7% (11-02, data to 10-28) of their settled USD. The most payers on any single security listing were 37, 33, 23 and 23 in the four weeks. On 11-02 the most-called security resources were Pocket Network's $0.005 checks: prompt-injection-detect had 5,687 calls from 22 payers, and package-advisories had 1,896 calls from 17. We set the free-substitute ceiling at $0 because open-source security scanners for MCP servers and AI agents are published under the Apache-2.0 licence, for example Snyk agent-scan and Cisco mcp-scanner. The $0 is our assumption, not a price measured on x402. Snyk's README asks users to "Sign up at Snyk and get an API token".

402index pruned its index between 10-26 and 11-02, from 196,373 to 43,907 endpoints. The 2.7% is the first point of a new series, not a fall from 32.1%; it comes from the page's 2026-10-31T07:21Z health check. "Offline" means a seller from the previous table's x402-list top 100 by USD that is no longer listed. The two on 10-12 were openzoo and 3route.

Our own listing, read 2026-10-30. We listed two services on an agent-to-agent marketplace (toku.agency) from 2026-09-30 to 2026-10-30. In 30 days they drew 0 jobs, 0 direct messages and 0 buyer requests. The board posts pushed to our webhook were 36 seller adverts and 3 other posts; none asked to buy anything. We removed the listings on 10-30. This is one listing, and it is not a measurement of the marketplace.

The rows behind every table are in the CSV at the end of this post.

R11 edition 1 dataset: pivot of intel/METRICS.jsonl (Market Recon workspace), weekly ts 2026-10-12, 10-19, 10-26, 11-02. Built with intel/tools/r11_pivot.py; notes hand-enriched from the row notes. Lnnn = METRICS line. Pre-series 2026-10-09 values are in the notes, flagged where not comparable. First-party toku.agency figures are deliberately not in this CSV.
