GreenBuddy AI is an AI-powered gardening assistant designed to help beginners identify plants, learn about plant care, and plan gardens based on their growing conditions.
The project combines plant image classification with AI-generated gardening guidance. My goal is to make gardening more approachable for people who want to grow plants at home, including those with limited balcony space.
I'm also exploring a gardening task tracker to help users organize routine plant-care activities and track their progress.

My focus is on building something practical with open-source components rather than relying entirely on a closed, hosted AI service.
Open innovation gives developers the opportunity to learn from existing models, inspect their capabilities, and build useful applications without having to train every model from scratch.
For GreenBuddy AI, open tools make experimentation more accessible and provide a foundation for improving the experience based on actual user feedback.
I tested the application with another person and added a feedback form that saves responses locally to a CSV file. This gives me a way to collect suggestions and identify improvements.
My next step is to use those suggestions to make GreenBuddy AI more useful for everyday gardening.
GreenBuddy AI could eventually serve beginner gardeners, balcony gardeners, and people who want practical plant-care guidance.
Possible future directions include optional premium gardening plans, personalized care schedules, and additional plant-care features. These are ideas to validate, not existing paid services.
I'm continuing to improve the project, test its features, and learn from user feedback.
Building GreenBuddy AI is helping me understand how open-source AI can move beyond experiments and become a useful product for real-world problems.
